Basic Strategy

The basic strategy in Scorzle revolves around maximizing your score by aiming for specific combinations while adapting based on your rolls.

Here’s a breakdown of key strategic points:

  1. Apply Rewards to the Dice: Customize the dice with rewards from the Wheel that will increase odds for targeted dice combinations, while maintaining balance to the values you can roll throughout the game.

  2. Prioritize High-Value Combinations Early: Early in the game, aim for difficult high-value combinations like Scorzle (five of a kind), Large Straight, and Full House. Securing these early can relieve pressure in later turns.

  3. Go for Upper Section Bonuses: To earn the upper section bonus (usually awarded for scoring 108 points or more in the Ones-Eights categories), try to collect as many matching dice as possible when going for the high-value numbers (like Fives and Sixes). This bonus can give a big score boost.

  4. Flexible Dice Selection: Start each turn by choosing a target combination, but be ready to pivot if the first roll shows a different potential. For example, if aiming for a Full House but rolling three-of-a-kind with another pair on the first roll, consider locking in those dice for the Full House.

  5. Chance as a Backup: The Chance category is a catch-all, so save it for a turn when your rolls don't align with any high-scoring categories. It’s better to take a moderately good score here than to risk a zero elsewhere.

  6. Avoid Low Scores or Zeroes in High-Value Categories: If you’re forced to take a zero, try to put it in lower-value categories, such as Ones, rather than in categories like Scorzle or Large Straight, which have higher point potential.

  7. Maximize Rolls for Riskier Combinations: If aiming for a Scorzle, go all-in on your matching dice from the start, and reroll the rest each time. However, if you're attempting a Straight, keep the highest possible sequence first, then try to roll the remaining numbers.

  8. Plan Ahead for Later Turns: As categories fill up, make strategic choices to ensure you're not left with risky or hard-to-achieve combinations in the final turns.
