Hearts is played with 4 players and uses a standard 52 card deck (with the Jokers removed). The deck is shuffled and then dealt out with each player receiving 13 cards.
A round begins with each player selecting three cards to pass, or give, to another player. Depending on the round, the player to whom you pass to changes. Beginning at round 1, each player passes their three selected cards to the player on their left. Round 2, to the right. Round 3 directly across. Finally, round 4 no cards are passed. At round 5 this process then begins again.
After the cards have been passed the round will begin with the player who holds the 2♣️. This player will start the first trick by playing the 2♣️.
Turns will rotate clockwise around the table with each player following suite of the original played card. However, if a player does not have a card matching the original suit a different suit can be played. After all four players have played a card, the highest card of the original, or led, suit wins the trick. The four cards are given to the winning player and taken off screen in the direction of the winning player.
This pattern continues with the player who won the last trick leading the play for the turn. If the User cannot follow the original suit, they may play any other suit, including ♥️. Once hearts have been broken they can now be led in future tricks. After all the cards have been played, the round is over and the score is tallied. These rounds will continue until the Score To End is reached (described below) by a player.
